We’re facing such challenging issues
When will the wars and unrest cease?
Why the lack of care and humanity?
How can we join together in peace?
How do we change our present world?
Starting right now and here?
While the questions seem straightforward
The answers are far from clear.
We adopted a beagle named Kippers
It’s been our year’s brightest spot
Although he had a tough life early on
He’s been teaching us quite a lot.
That patience, love, and training
Will help him grow, thrive, and succeed
He may not be the dog we expected
But he is the one we need.
I’m still happily volunteering
And have good news to share
My mentee Reese and I were named
Big and Little Sister of the Year!
Robert’s hobbies keep him busy
But this year wouldn’t be complete
Without adding a new mode of cooking
A Green Egg to smoke meat!
How do we keep moving forward
When chaos and conflict abound?
Perhaps focusing on our blessings
Is where some solace will be found.
